July 2004 Archives
One good thing about living in LA is that you know that everybody has a concert here. And my favorite are those held in small venues - like the Avalon Theater in Hollywood. We saw the Finn Brothers there yesterday (concert sponsored by the KCRW, the npr of LA), and even though we were quite late, for reasons beyond our control, we caught the best of the show. It was really a lot of fun!
I don't really catalogue dates and times of my star sightings, but yesterday we saw Ethan Hawke. He passed right by us, just before the end of the concert. He was very low key, and I would not even recognize him if he hadn't been just inches from me. Why am I writing this - because my first and only thought was - he is short! I guess seeing people on TV or in movies, you don't really have a good feeling of their height, unless you have some very clear object of reference. But can you really trust those - as we have seen at the Universal Studios lot, movie makers are quite clever about it: creating small doors for short actors or big ones for tall actors. So, you never know...
Update 08/05/04: The Fin Brothers how have a brand new website. Check it out!
Let me start this blog on a positive, even slightly cheese, note: inspired by a movie I saw last night while babysitting for the first time in my life - Love, Actually - here are the lirics of "All you need is love"...
All You Need Is Love
The Beatles (Lennon/McCartney)
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy.
There's nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be in time
It's easy.
