sock casualty

Today was a day with many 'firsts' for the baby so I thought it was worth documenting...

He has been sleeping on his tummy for a while now, but this morning, he was sleeping not with his head to the side, but directly ON his face. From the side, I could see his nose all squshed (just like his dad)...

then, he managed to turn to his back this morning. For the very first time he did not scream with his arms and legs in the air, when he has had enough being on his tummy. I don't think he liked it though, because as he pushed himself, there was nothing to stop he so the landing (on his back) wasn't gentle. He spread his arms, widened his eyes... but did not cry. With this he mastered the rolling over actions...

then we came home from a walk with one sock missing. Now, you could ask - why is this important. Well, a friend told me that when her doughter started loosing socks all over Santa Monica, she started putting shoes on her. These shoes, on a six-month old, were not for walking, of course, but for keeping the socks in place. So does this mean we should be strting with shoes?

And finally, today at the store I saw him play with his feet for the first time. He has been grabbing his legs by his knees for a while now, while I change him, but he did not attempt to grab his feet. He looked at them, curiously, but that was it. Today, he had both his feet in his little hands, smiling at anybody who would talk to him. Is this another reason to start with shoes, because I am afraid that the next step is taking the socks off and chewing on his toes...
